Wichita Jr. Thunder squeaks by Tulsa Jr. Oilers, 5-3

Wichita Jr. Thunder gutted out a close 5-3 win against Tulsa Jr. Oilers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jack McClelland secured the win for Wichita Jr. Thunder with a goal in the third period.

McClelland was all over the ice for Wichita Jr. Thunder, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. McClelland scored 5:08 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Wichita Jr. Thunder. Peter Ivicic provided the assist.

Wichita Jr. Thunder kept Tulsa Jr. Oilers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Teke Murphy made 39 saves on 44 shots.

Wichita Jr. Thunder also got points from Matej Porzer, who also had one goal and one assist and Ivicic, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Wichita Jr. Thunder included John Pierce and Kris Tountas, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Jr. Thunder were Brock Steffen, Patrik Janac, Artis Mucenieks, Tom Lindstrom, and Matt McClelland, who contributed one each.

Wichita Jr. Thunder was unable to stop Tulsa Jr. Oilers from sending pucks towards the net, and Tulsa Jr. Oilers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Tulsa Jr. Oilers had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

Tulsa Jr. Oilers was helped by Sam Mancini, who finished with three goals. More assists for Tulsa Jr. Oilers came via Ivan Bukshevannyy, who had three and Andrew Wyrrick and Sam Hiserodt, who each chipped in one.

Jake Larson made 29 saves for Wichita Jr. Thunder on 32 shots. Wichita Jr. Thunder incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Tulsa Jr. Oilers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
