Idaho Junior Steelheads blows out Lake Tahoe Blue, 8-1

Idaho Junior Steelheads had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over Lake Tahoe Blue.

Idaho Junior Steelheads pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes.

Idaho Junior Steelheads was sparked by Kyle TenEyck, who had one goal and one assist. TenEyck scored 12:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Elliot Lorraine picked up the assist.

Idaho Junior Steelheads excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Idaho Junior Steelheads forced Lake Tahoe Blue goalie Nick Bretzger to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots.

Idaho Junior Steelheads additionally got points from Lorraine, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Alex Randazzo, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Idaho Junior Steelheads included Kyle Smith, who had two and Oleg Losev, Ryan Cutter, and Robert Neuwirth, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Idaho Junior Steelheads were Nikita Zgirskis, who had two, Kris Apsitis, who had three, and Austin Althaus, Jack York, Phil Fromberger, Victor Carlsson, Macky Power, and Alex Criswell, who each chipped in one.

Lake Tahoe Blue did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 13 shots on net to force 12 saves.

Lake Tahoe Blue was led by Julius Bauermeister, who scored the team's only goal. Bauermeister scored 10 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lake Tahoe Blue. Alexander Lobachev assisted on the tally.

Austin Althaus made 12 saves for Idaho Junior Steelheads on 13 shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Bretzger rejected 42 shots on goal for Lake Tahoe Blue. Lake Tahoe Blue ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
