Huge game by Schafer boosts Missoula Maulers over Seattle Totems, 8-5

Missoula Maulers' Corey Schafer had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 8-5 win over Seattle Totems.

Schafer scored at 8:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 3:09 into the second to make the score 2-2.

Missoula Maulers pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 23 penalty minutes.

Missoula Maulers forced Seattle Totems' goalies to work in net, totaling 39 shots and forcing 31 saves. Alek Lazarski made 26 stops and Angus Campbell made five. Missoula Maulers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Seattle Totems to score on any of its six power plays. Missoula Maulers surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Missoula Maulers averages 4.9 goals per game.

Missoula Maulers also got points from Sam Sevcik, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Alex Shalamov, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, and Andrei Shebelbain, who also registered one goal and one assist. Missoula Maulers also got a goal from Tanner Todd as well. In addition, Missoula Maulers received assists from Damon Hanson, who had three and Brady Peterson, Dominic Rinaldi, and Matt Chamberlain, who each chipped in one.

Seattle Totems forced Missoula Maulers goalie Aron Holmgren to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Seattle Totems was helped by August Cnattingius, who finished with three goals. Seattle Totems additionally got points from Adam Alfoldy, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Carter Williams, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Seattle Totems came via Braden Stratton, who had two and Nathan Carter and Chayse Franklin, who contributed one each.

Holmgren rejected 31 shots on goal for Missoula Maulers. Missoula Maulers registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Seattle Totems ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
