Springfield Express blows out Wichita Jr. Thunder, 5-2

Springfield Express had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over Wichita Jr. Thunder.

Quade Hamlin had a great game for Springfield Express, netting two goals. Hamlin scored at 14:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Springfield Express and again while 12:21 into the second to make the score 3-0 Springfield Express.

Springfield Express kept Wichita Jr. Thunder's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matej Varchola made 34 saves on 39 shots.

Others who scored for Springfield Express included Dammond Brokke, David Higgs, and Linus Dahlberg, who each put in one. More assists for Springfield Express came via Seth Ensor, who had three and Jacob Kaufman, Gabe Regan, Nikkita Perviakov, and Collin Young, who contributed one each.

Wichita Jr. Thunder forced Springfield Express goalie Philip Babb to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Wichita Jr. Thunder was helped by Alex Smith, who registered one goal. Smith scored on the power play 17:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Springfield Express. Wichita Jr. Thunder had gained a power play chance when Jackson Wiest was whistled for delay of game. Matej Porzer picked up the assist. Wichita Jr. Thunder also got points from Peter Cicmanec, who also had one goal and one assist.

Philip Babb made 31 saves for Springfield Express on 33 shots. Springfield Express incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Wichita Jr. Thunder incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
