Fresno Monsters blows out Phoenix Knights, 10-4

Behind a great game by Jonathan Bengtsson, who had two goals, Fresno Monsters defeated Phoenix Knights, 10-4.

Bengtsson scored on the power play at 12:42 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 15:10 into the first to make the score 2-1 Fresno Monsters.

Fresno Monsters' penalty kill excelled, as Fresno Monsters gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Fresno Monsters racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and three majors for 61 minutes in penalty time. Fresno Monsters surpassed its season average of 29.0 penalty minutes per game. Fresno Monsters forced Phoenix Knights goalie Luke Stripp to work between the pipes, taking 63 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals.

Fresno Monsters also got points from Mike Nolan, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Gianmarco Guidon, who also had two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Fresno Monsters included Mark Shroyer, Kyle Jelinski, Owen Sikich, Kyle Baker, and Mitchell Dolman, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fresno Monsters were Evan Ingram, who had two, Patrick Meier, who had three, Carter Dahl, who had five, and Jacob Haynes, Parker Olson, and Conner Osborne, who contributed one each.

Phoenix Knights forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and three majors for 63 minutes in penalty time. Phoenix Knights had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Phoenix Knights was led by Mitch Cobby, who racked up two goals and one assist. Cobby scored the first of his two goals at 1:40 into the second period to make the score 5-2 Fresno Monsters. Allen Charlie picked up the assist. Cobby's next tally made the score 5-3 Fresno Monsters with 10:20 left in the second period. Reid Hunter assisted on the tally. Phoenix Knights additionally got points from Hunter, who also registered one goal and one assist. Phoenix Knights also got a goal from Robert Crisci as well. In addition, Phoenix Knights received assists from Jordan Kaspick, Brennan Johnsson, Brynton Macnab, and Braden Cooper, who contributed one each.

Matthew Soldano rejected 17 shots on goal for Fresno Monsters. Fresno Monsters registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Stripp recorded 53 saves for Phoenix Knights.
