Vitolins leads El Paso Rhinos over Wichita Jr. Thunder, 5-2

Behind a great game by Reinis Vitolins, who had two goals and one assist, El Paso Rhinos defeated Wichita Jr. Thunder, 5-2.

Vitolins scored at 17:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 El Paso Rhinos and again while 46 seconds into the second to make the score 3-0 El Paso Rhinos.

Wichita Jr. Thunder's power play was ineffective against El Paso Rhinos' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

El Paso Rhinos' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Wichita Jr. Thunder power plays. Wichita Jr. Thunder was unable to stop El Paso Rhinos from sending pucks towards the net, and El Paso Rhinos eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

El Paso Rhinos additionally got points from Sebastian Borg, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Gavin Abbott, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Robert Horak also scored for El Paso Rhinos. More assists for El Paso Rhinos came via Marek Langhammer, who had two and Patrick Stancl and Jiri Pestuka, who each chipped in one.

Wichita Jr. Thunder was helped by Matt McClelland, who tallied one goal. McClelland scored 16:22 into the second period to make the score 5-2 El Paso Rhinos. Peter Ivicic picked up the assist. Wichita Jr. Thunder also got a goal from Ivan Brvenik as well. In addition, Wichita Jr. Thunder received assists from Matej Porzer, Patrik Janac, and Peter Cicmanec, who contributed one each.

Adam Vay recorded 16 saves for El Paso Rhinos. El Paso Rhinos totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Jake Larson rejected 28 shots on goal for Wichita Jr. Thunder. Wichita Jr. Thunder incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
