Valencia Flyers penalty kill dominates in 5-1 defeat of Las Vegas Storm

Valencia Flyers' penalty kill was superb, as Valencia Flyers survived multiple penalties to beat Las Vegas Storm, 5-1.

Valencia Flyers was led by Tyler Lazarek, who racked up one goal. Lazarek scored 6:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Valencia Flyers. Mitch Nordskog provided the assist.

Valencia Flyers forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Valencia Flyers had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. Valencia Flyers stifled Las Vegas Storm's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Las Vegas Storm was unable to stop Valencia Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Valencia Flyers eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

Valencia Flyers also got points from Blake Agular, who also registered one goal and one assist and Chase Thesman, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Valencia Flyers included Jason Hart and Luc Whyte, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Valencia Flyers were Evan Johnson, who had two, Ray Wilson, who had three, and Wil Barnett and Bas Assaf, who each chipped in one.

Las Vegas Storm could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 25 minutes in penalties during the game.

Valencia Flyers' Sander Berg stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Valencia Flyers registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Gernot Wegerer made 42 saves for Las Vegas Storm on 47 shots. Las Vegas Storm registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
