Seattle Totems survives Whitefish Wolverines comeback, wins 5-3Olympic View Sat, Oct 18, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Whitefish Wolverines almost clawed its way back from a four-goal deficit, but Seattle Totems managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Seattle Totems led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Seattle Totems' Erik Danna scored at 3:46 in the second period to put Seattle Totems up 5-1. With four goals and three assists between them, Marek Nemec and Danna teamed up to power Seattle Totems' offense. Nemec finished with two goals and one assist and Danna also notched two goals and two assists. Seattle Totems pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 31 penalty minutes. Seattle Totems forced Whitefish Wolverines' goalies to work between the pipes, firing 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Brendan Schultz made 22 stops and Joakim Hidestrand made 11. Seattle Totems additionally got points from Danna, who also tallied two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. August Cnattingius also scored for Seattle Totems. In addition, Seattle Totems received assists from Braden Stratton, who had four and Gunnar Forseth and Adam Alfoldy, who each chipped in one. Whitefish Wolverines put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Seattle Totems to score on any of its four power plays. Whitefish Wolverines was led by Aleksei Garin, who racked up two goals. Garin scored the first of his two goals at 12:28 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Seattle Totems. Garin's next tally made the score 5-3 Seattle Totems with 3:30 left in the second period. Whitefish Wolverines had gotten the advantage when Seattle Totems' Cameron Wetmore was sent off for hooking. Stosh Mroz picked up the assist. Whitefish Wolverines also got a goal from Chris Cutshall as well. More assists for Whitefish Wolverines came via Dillon Dodge and Ian Wiens, who contributed one each. Anton Vigre made 18 saves for Seattle Totems on 21 shots. For Seattle Totems, Jordan Douglas was ejected from the game. Whitefish Wolverines totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. Whitefish Wolverines ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chase Ball was ejected from the game.
