Nolan leads Fresno Monsters over San Diego Gulls, 9-1

Fresno Monsters' Mike Nolan had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing four assists in his team's 9-1 win over San Diego Gulls.

Nolan scored 28 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fresno Monsters. Evan Ingram picked up the assist. Nolan dished an assist on Ingram's goal that made the score 3-0 Fresno Monsters at 8:48 into the second period. He then added assists on Ingram's goal at 18:25 into the second, on Ingram's goal at 21 seconds into the third, and on Ingram's goal at 9:18 into the third.

San Diego Gulls was stymied by Fresno Monsters' netminder Austin Piquette, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, Piquette will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.48 entering the contest.

Fresno Monsters pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes.

Fresno Monsters forced San Diego Gulls' netminders to work in net, getting 44 shots and forcing 35 saves. Brody Cavataio made 29 stops and Hunter Jackson made six. Fresno Monsters stifled San Diego Gulls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Fresno Monsters also got points from Ingram, who also finished with four goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Kyle Jelinski, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Kyle Baker, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Austin Browning, who also had one goal and one assist. Mark Shroyer also scored for Fresno Monsters. In addition, Fresno Monsters received assists from Jacob Haynes, Brantt Heble, and Mitchell Dolman, who contributed one each and Corey Munro and Jonathan Bengtsson, who each chipped in two.

San Diego Gulls was held below its usual level of production. San Diego Gulls puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. San Diego Gulls struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. San Diego Gulls' power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having 11 power play opportunities.

San Diego Gulls also got a goal from Cameron Todd as well. More assists for San Diego Gulls came via Mike Caruso, who had one.
