Idaho Junior Steelheads blows out Seattle Totems, 8-2

Victor Carlsson had two goals to lead Idaho Junior Steelheads to an 8-2 victory over Seattle Totems.

Carlsson scored at 11:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Idaho Junior Steelheads and again while 15:56 into the first to make the score 2-0 Idaho Junior Steelheads.

Idaho Junior Steelheads forced Seattle Totems' goaltenders to work in net, firing 47 shots and forcing 39 saves. Angus Cambell made 36 stops and Anton Vigre made three.

Idaho Junior Steelheads also got points from Macky Power, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Robert Neuwirth, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Idaho Junior Steelheads also had goals scored by Gunnar Merrick, James Bohan, Nikita Zgirskis, and Ryan Cutter, who scored one goal each. More assists for Idaho Junior Steelheads came via Oleg Losev, Kyle Smith, Dimitris Jones, and Alex Criswell, who each chipped in one and Jack York, Ondrej Valo, Phil Fromberger, and Elliot Lorraine, who contributed two each.

Idaho Junior Steelheads' defense shut down Seattle Totems' forwards for much of the game, and Seattle Totems got off only 14 shots during the contest.

Others who scored for Seattle Totems included Marek Nemec and August Cnattingius, who each put in one. In addition, Seattle Totems received assists from Erik Danna, who had one.

Austin Althaus recorded 12 saves for Idaho Junior Steelheads. Idaho Junior Steelheads totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Seattle Totems totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
