Casper Coyotes survives Colorado RoughRiders comeback, wins 3-2Casper Ice Arena Sat, Sep 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Colorado RoughRiders tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Casper Coyotes Coyote would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Casper Coyotes made the score 3-1 on a goal by CHRIS LUGG at 2:04 in the third period, and Colorado RoughRiders got as close as 3-2 when Gian Cervo scored 9:06 into the third period. Colorado RoughRiders' power play was ineffective against the Coyote's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Casper Coyotes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Coyote kept Colorado RoughRiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kirill Pustovalov made 32 saves on 35 shots. Casper Coyotes also got points from IGOR STIBYSH, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Casper Coyotes also got a goal from VIKTOR THIM as well. In addition, Casper Coyotes received assists from MACK STEVENS, ERIK STENBACKA, KASPER ELO, and DMYTRO BABENKO, who contributed one each. Colorado RoughRiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Casper Coyotes to score on any of its four power plays. Colorado RoughRiders forced the Coyote goalie RIKARD LANDFELDT to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Aidan Doughty also scored for Colorado RoughRiders. More assists for Colorado RoughRiders came via Christian Akita, Sage Dugas, Thayne Trumbull, and August Arjes, who each chipped in one. Casper Coyotes' LANDFELDT stopped 39 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Coyote incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Colorado RoughRiders incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
