McParland's goals lift Pensacola to 3-1 victory over Fayetteville

The Pensacola Ice Flyers relied on the scoring touch of Nick McParland, who netted two goals, to beat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 3-1.

McParland scored at 17:56 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola and again while 18:11 into the third to make the score 3-1 Pensacola.

Pensacola excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Ice Flyers put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.1 they average per game.

Pensacola also got a goal from Adam Pawlick as well. More assists for Pensacola came via Brett Lutes, who had one and Keegan Flaherty, who had two.

Fayetteville managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The FireAntz finished below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Fayetteville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Randy Cameron, Derek Elliott and Trever Hertz took 12 of the team's 20 shots.

In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Chad Hohmann, who had one.

Max Strang rejected 19 shots on goal for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The FireAntz's Kevin Murdock stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced.
