Pensacola wins tough contest against Mississippi RiverKings, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Pensacola Ice Flyers escaped with a 3-2 victory over Mississippi RiverKings.

Pensacola gained the winning advantage on a goal by Adam Pawlick 16:14 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Pawlick had two goals to lead the Ice Flyers to victory.

Mississippi RiverKings' power play was ineffective against Pensacola's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Ice Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mississippi RiverKings to score on any of its seven power plays.

Pensacola also got points from Steve Bergin, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Keegan Flaherty, Brett Lutes, Cody Ferriero, Corey Banfield, and Jeremy Gates, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi RiverKings failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 20 pucks on goal after averaging 29.0 shots per game this season.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Matt Whitehead, who tallied one goal. Whitehead scored 12:47 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Cody Dion provided the assist. Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Burke Gallimore as well. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Dylan Quaile, who had one.

Max Strang recorded 18 saves for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Adam Courchaine made 26 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 29 shots. Mississippi RiverKings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
