Overland nets hat trick, leads Amherstview to 11-7 win over DeserontoEmpire Jr. C Sun, Jan 25, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Dorian Overland was the highlight in Jets' 11-7 win against the Deseronto Storm. Overland's first goal came 8:00 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:53 into the second and at 7:44 into the second.The Amherstview Jets kept Deseronto's goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Young made 46 saves on 57 shots. Amherstview surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Jets average 3.8 goals per game. Amherstview also got points from Brett Yake, who also registered one goal and two assists, Mike McKitrick, who also had one goal and two assists, Jordan Howe, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Cassidy Bruni, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Cam Blakeley, Cody Jodoin, Wyatt Crampton, and Max Brunner, who scored one goal each. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Joey Mayer, who had three, Jag Masters and Zach Masterson, who each chipped in one, and Konner Burtenshaw, Brody Taylor, and Cosimo Morin, who contributed two each. The Storm managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Deseronto wound up below its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. The Storm bested their season scoring average. This season, Deseronto averages 2.0 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Storm were also effective in Amherstview's zone, and came away with two goals. Deseronto was helped by Jeff Hoey, who registered two goals and two assists. Hoey scored the first of his two goals at 17:15 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Amherstview. Liam Hunter picked up the assist. Hoey's next tally made the score 6-4 Amherstview with 8:50 left in the second period. The Storm had gotten the advantage when the Jets' Burtenshaw was sent off for tripping. Tryston Teichman provided the assist. Deseronto additionally got points from Hunter, who also racked up two goals and two assists, Brodie Maracle, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Teichman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Deseronto also got a goal from Chase Dowdle as well. Other players who recorded assists for Deseronto were Logan Elliott, Devin MacLean, and Jordon Guindon, who each chipped in one. Amherstview's starting goalie, Ryan Kaszuba, made 13 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Graeme Gemmill-Peters, who stopped 10 shots. The Jets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Deseronto registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
