Campbellford outlasts Deseronto, 5-3Deseronto & District CC Fri, Jan 23, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Campbellford Rebels and the Deseronto Storm was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Campbellford emerged with a 5-3 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jon Samis's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Rebels were led by Samis, who racked up one goal and one assist. Samis scored 6:41 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Campbellford. Colin Doyle assisted on the tally. Campbellford's offense rang up 66 shots on Deseronto's net. The Rebels took advantage of the Storm's penalties, tallying three goals off of four power play opportunities. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Campbellford additionally got points from Doyle, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Andrew Doxtator, who also had one goal and one assist, and Jeremiah Doherty, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Josh Hodge also scored for Campbellford. More assists for Campbellford came via Ethan McDougall, William Lameroux, Karn Dart, and Nick Ferguson, who each chipped in one. Campbellford was unable to stop Deseronto from sending pucks towards the net, and the Storm eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Deseronto was helped by Jeff Hoey, who racked up one goal and one assist. Hoey scored on the power play 14:18 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Deseronto. The Storm had gained a power play chance when Austin Fry was whistled for roughing after whistle. Brodie Maracle picked up the assist. Deseronto also got points from Devin MacLean, who also registered one goal and one assist. Deseronto also got a goal from Trey Maracle APM as well. In addition, Deseronto received assists from Brett Maracle, who had one. Cole Mahoney recorded 28 saves for the Rebels. Campbellford incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Aaron Young rejected 61 shots on goal for Deseronto. The Storm incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
