Picton blows out Amherstview, 5-2

The Picton Pirates had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Amherstview Jets.

Picton was sparked by Liam Hunter, who tallied one goal. Hunter scored 12:53 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Picton. Nolan Van Vlack assisted on the tally.

The Pirates kept Amherstview's goalie busy throughout the game, and Graeme Gemmill-Peters made 31 saves on 36 shots. Picton's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Picton also got points from Curtis Colbary, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Chris Jones also scored for Picton. More assists for Picton came via Taylor Brown, who had one and Steven Clarke, Devin McCann, and Mitchell Merry, who contributed two each.

The Pirates were unable to stop the Jets from sending pucks towards the net, and Amherstview eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

The Jets were led by Dorian Overland, who had one goal and one assist. Overland scored on the power play 17:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Picton. A hooking penalty on Miles Levtov had put Amherstview on the power play. Jesse Stone picked up the assist. Amherstview also got a goal from Ben Bianco as well. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Zach Masterson, who had one.

Nick Kazmierczak rejected 39 shots on goal for Picton. The Pirates incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
