Ferguson lifts Campbellford over Deseronto, 10-4

Behind a great game by Nick Ferguson, who had two goals, the Campbellford Rebels defeated the Deseronto Storm, 10-4.

Ferguson found the back of the net 41 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford and again while 2:00 into the first to make the score 2-0 Campbellford.

Campbellford excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Rebels forced Deseronto goalie Aaron Young to work between the pipes, taking 80 shots. Campbellford found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Rebels average 4.2 goals per contest.

Campbellford also got points from Colin Doyle, who also registered one goal and one assist and Josh Hodge, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Campbellford also had goals scored by Ethan McDougall and Jeremiah Doherty, who each put in two and Karn Dart and Corey Lasko, who scored one goal each. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Riley Reynolds, who had three, Jacob Bennett, who had four, Jon Samis, Etinene Pelleteir, and Gerald Bilker, who contributed one each, and Austin Fry and Grant Fry, who each chipped in two.

The Storm forced Rebels' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 37 shots and forcing 33 saves. Cole Mahoney made 18 stops and Reilly Dunn made 15. Deseronto stifled Campbellford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Storm were helped by Jeff Hoey, who finished with one goal and one assist. Hoey scored 3:06 into the third period to make the score 10-2 Campbellford. Jordon Guindon assisted on the tally. Deseronto additionally got points from Tyson OToole, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Deseronto included Brett Maracle and Tryston Teichman, who each put in one.

The Rebels incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Campbellford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Pelleteir was ejected from the game. Young rejected 70 shots on goal for Deseronto. The Storm incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Deseronto, Maracle was ejected from the game.
