Picton downs Amherstview, 3-1

Curtis Smith grabbed two points to lead the Picton Pirates to a 3-1 victory over the Amherstview Jets.

Picton's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Amherstview power plays. The Pirates forced Amherstview goalie Ryan Kaszuba to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Picton also got points from Phil Smith, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Austin Labelle also scored for Picton. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Devin McCann, who had two and Brian Bunnett and Mitch Burke, who each chipped in one.

The Jets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Amherstview did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jets put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game.

Amherstview was led by Brody Taylor, who scored the team's only goal. Taylor scored 12:27 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Picton. Joey Mayer picked up the assist.

Nick Kazmierczak made 15 saves for Picton on 16 shots. The Pirates incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Team's Noah Sager and Taylor Brown were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Kaszuba rejected 38 shots on goal for the Jets. Amherstview incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
