Amherstview blows out Campbellford, 7-1

The Campbellford Rebels had trouble finding ways to stop the Amherstview Jets, which beat Rebels, 7-1.

Brett Yake was all over the ice for Amherstview, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Yake scored on the power play 15:45 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amherstview. The Jets had gotten the advantage when Campbellford's Nick Ferguson was sent off for spearing. Jordan Howe provided the assist.

The Rebels were stymied by Amherstview's netminder Ryan Kaszuba, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Kaszuba managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.49 prior to the game.

The Jets forced Campbellford's netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Cole Mahoney made 13 stops and Reilly Dunn made 15. Amherstview's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Campbellford power plays. The Jets outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Amherstview averages 4.0 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Jets were also effective in the Rebels' zone, and came away with three goals.

Amherstview additionally got points from Jesse Stone, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and Josh Kurish, who also registered one goal and one assist. Amherstview also had goals scored by Mike McKitrick, Brody Taylor, and Cassidy Bruni, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Adam Alcorn, Cam Blakeley, and Cody Smith, who contributed one each.

Campbellford did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Rebels put an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. Campbellford's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Rebels finished with 54 penalty minutes.

Amherstview incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Campbellford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and William Lameroux was ejected from the game.
