Napanee holds on for 5-4 win against Picton

The Picton Pirates tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Napanee Raiders held on for a 5-4 victory.

Napanee made the score 5-3 on a goal by Mitch Pearce at 19:33 in the second period, and Picton got as close as 5-4 when Nick Salt-APM scored 14:01 into the third period.

Austin Boulard was all over the ice for the Raiders, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Boulard scored 17:08 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Napanee. Kyle Murphy picked up the assist.

Napanee's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Picton power plays. The Pirates were unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Napanee eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Napanee additionally got points from Murphy, who also registered one goal and one assist, Brodie Butt, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Keenan Murray, who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, Napanee received assists from Zach Knapp-Hermer, Adam Bennett, and Josh Murphy, who contributed one each.

Picton forced the Raiders goalie Cameron Parr to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Pirates were led by Corey Farrell, who had two goals and one assist. Farrell scored the first of his two goals at 19:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Picton. Phil Smith assisted on the tally. Farrell's next tally made the score 3-3 with 1:22 left in the second period. Brian Bunnett provided the assist. Picton also got points from Bunnett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Picton came via Liam Hunter and Jeff Hoey, who each chipped in one.

Parr rejected 30 shots on goal for Napanee. The Raiders incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brock Tufts recorded 26 saves for Picton. The Pirates incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Picton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitch Burke was ejected from the game.
