Amherstview survives Picton comeback, wins 5-3Prince Edward Thu, Oct 30, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Amherstview Jets managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Amherstview led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jets' Cody Smith scored on the power play at 14:30 in the third period to put Amherstview up 4-1. The Jets were led by Dorian Overland, who registered one goal. Overland scored 19:30 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Amherstview. In a losing effort, Picton was sparked by Brian Bunnett, who finished with two goals. Bunnett scored the first of his two goals at 19:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Phil Smith assisted on the tally. Bunnett's next tally made the score 4-2 Amherstview with 4:39 left in the third period. Miles Levtov picked up the assist. Amherstview put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Pirates to score on any of their three power plays. Amherstview also got points from Wyatt Crampton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Smith, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Joey Mayer and Cassidy Bruni, who scored one goal each. More assists for Amherstview came via Adam Alcorn and Brody Taylor, who contributed one each and Zach Masterson and Ryan Hutchinson, who each chipped in two. Picton additionally got points from Mitch Burke, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Picton received assists from Corey Farrell, who had one. Ryan Kaszuba made 26 saves for the Jets on 29 shots. Amherstview incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brock Tufts rejected 23 shots on goal for Picton. The Pirates incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Picton, Chris Jones was ejected from the game.
