Campbellford erases deficit to stun Deseronto, 6-4

The Campbellford Rebels rallied from three goals down to secure a 6-4 win over the Deseronto Storm.

Campbellford never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Rebels was down 3-0 after a goal by Deseronto's Brett Maracle at 16:56 in the first period. Campbellford knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Graiden Maynard at 7:25 in the third period. The Rebels scored the game winner at 10:12 in the third period on a goal by Maynard.

The Storm were unable to stop Campbellford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rebels eventually piled up 59 shots on goal. Campbellford found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Rebels average 3.4 goals per game. The defensemen of Campbellford were also effective in Deseronto's zone, and came away with two goals. The Rebels could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Campbellford additionally got points from Jeremiah Doherty, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Campbellford also had goals scored by Brad Jacklin, Jon Samis, and Etinene Pelleteir, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Campbellford were Josh Hodge, who had two and Cole Hamilton and Karn Dart, who contributed three each.

The Storm stifled Campbellford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Deseronto was helped by Jared Boomhower, who racked up two goals. Boomhower scored the first of his two goals at 2:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Deseronto. Devin MacLean picked up the assist. Boomhower's next tally made the score 4-2 Deseronto with 53 seconds left in the second period. The Storm had taken the advantage when the Rebels' Pelleteir got sent off for head contact. Brett Bateman assisted on the tally. Deseronto also got points from Brodie Maracle, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Deseronto received assists from Greg Massicotte and Johnny Maracle, who each chipped in one.

Reilly Dunn made 10 saves before being replaced by Cole Mahoney, who took the win and made 12 saves. Campbellford registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Matt Loveys rejected 53 shots on goal for Deseronto. The Storm incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For Deseronto, Chris Rogalsky was ejected from the game.
