Picton blows out Deseronto, 11-1

The Picton Pirates had an eight-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 11-1 win over the Deseronto Storm.

Deseronto was stymied by Picton's netminder Brock Tufts, who stopped 44 shots during the victory. Even though Tufts played well, his goals against average suffered, as his one goal against exceeded his season average of 1.0.

The Storm's power play was ineffective against the Pirates' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Picton forced Deseronto goalie Matt Loveys to work between the pipes, taking 70 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Pirates were helped by Jordon Guindon, who finished with one goal. Guindon scored 12:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Picton. Devin McCann assisted on the tally. Picton additionally got points from Steven Clarke, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Austin Labelle, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Calum Kennelly, who also registered one goal and one assist, Brian Bunnett, who also had three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, McCann, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Phil Smith, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Chris Jones also scored for Picton. In addition, Picton received assists from Miles Levtov, who had one and Liam Hunter and Jeff Hoey, who each chipped in two.

The Storm stifled Picton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Deseronto's offense rang up 45 shots on the Pirates' net. The Storm did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying only one minor for 82 minutes in penalty time.

Picton incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Pirates ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Taylor Brown was ejected from the game. Loveys recorded 59 saves for Deseronto.
