Mooretown outlasts Alvinston, 3-2Mooretown Rink 1 Sat, Jan 31, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Mooretown Flags and the Alvinston Flyers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Mooretown emerged with a 3-2 win. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Sam McCormack's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. McCormack had a great game for the Flags, netting two goals. Mooretown's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Ben Morrison also scored for Mooretown. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Dan Lumley, who had two and Joe DeSena and Frankie White, who contributed one each. Alvinston was helped by Kole Keating, who finished with one goal. Keating scored 19:32 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Joe Archer provided the assist. Alvinston also got points from Archer, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Clint Rose, Karsten Berg, and Zach VanEyk, who each chipped in one. Steven Taylor made 26 saves for the Flags on 28 shots. Mooretown incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Flyers' Brett Avery stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Alvinston incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. For the Flyers, Berg was ejected from the game. |
