McGeen nets hat trick, leads Blenheim to 6-3 win over Wallaceburg

Teddy McGeen netted a hat trick to lead the Blenheim Blades over the Wallaceburg Lakers, 6-3.

McGeen got on the scoresheet 14:34 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:11 into the first and at 19:31 into the second.

Blenheim's penalty kill excelled, as the Blades gave up one goal despite allowing 11 power plays.

Blenheim's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Blades average 3.1 goals per contest. Blenheim could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Blenheim also got points from Dylan Muzzatti, who also registered one goal and one assist and Tyler Boughner, who also had one goal and one assist. Blenheim also got a goal from Dylan Smith as well. More assists for Blenheim came via Bryan Boersma, Ben Pataki, Matt Clark, Nolan VandenBoorn, Dallas Richard, and Mackenzie Dick, who each chipped in one.

Wallaceburg was helped by Ryan Gruszka, who finished with one goal. Gruszka scored 7:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Blenheim. Connor Johnston provided the assist. Wallaceburg also had goals scored by Mike Kindrachuk and Jeff Brown, who scored one goal each. In addition, Wallaceburg received assists from Lucais Meyskens, who had one.

Eric Stewardson rejected 20 shots on goal for the Blades. Blenheim registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The Lakers' Joel Sowinski stopped 22 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Wallaceburg incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
