Alvinston falls to Wallaceburg in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Ryan Gruszka gave the Wallaceburg Lakers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Alvinston Flyers when he scored 2:54 into the extra period.

Gruszka had one goal and two assists to lead Wallaceburg.

The Lakers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Wallaceburg averages 2.2 goals per contest.

Wallaceburg also got points from Lucais Meyskens, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Mike Brown, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wallaceburg also got a goal from Cory Lucier as well. More assists for Wallaceburg came via Bronson Bea, Trevor Waller, Jacob Theoret, Evan Weidenbach, Brock Daugherty, and Brendan Ritchie, who each chipped in one.

Alvinston forced the Lakers goalie Scotty Gray to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

The Flyers were led by Kole Keating, who tallied one goal and two assists. Keating scored 3:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Karsten Berg picked up the assist. Alvinston additionally got points from Berg, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Alvinston included Jeremy VanDeven and Eric Marsh, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Joe Archer, who had two and Andrew Morgan, Chad Rainsberry, and Matt Gough, who contributed one each.

Gray rejected 36 shots on goal for Wallaceburg. The Lakers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brett Avery recorded 24 saves for Alvinston. The Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
