Mooretown squeaks by Lakeshore, 5-3Atlas Centre Fri, Jan 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mooretown Flags gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Lakeshore Canadiens. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Dan Lumley at 1:34 of the third period. Mooretown was sparked by Lumley, who had one goal. The Flags' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Lakeshore power plays. Mooretown additionally got points from Justin Vanbuskirk, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Joe DeSena, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Alec Segers, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Matt Brandon also scored for Mooretown. More assists for Mooretown came via Colton Osborne, who had one. Lakeshore excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Mooretown was unable to stop the Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakeshore eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Canadiens were helped by Connor Goodchild, who racked up one goal. Goodchild scored 16:05 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brenden Crundwell assisted on the tally. Lakeshore also had goals scored by Joe Binder and JJ Percy, who each put in one. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Sebastian Kanally, who had two and Steven Sartor and Zack Bedard, who each chipped in one. The Flags' Brandon Johnson stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Mooretown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. John Jeffries rejected 14 shots on goal for Lakeshore. The Canadiens incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
