Johnson leads Wheatley over Wallaceburg, 5-0

Brian Johnson was all over the ice for the Wheatley Sharks, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Wheatley's 5-0 win over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Johnson scored 7:59 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wheatley. Lucas Raffoul assisted on the tally. Johnson dished an assist on Raffoul's goal that made the score 2-0 Wheatley at 17:51 into the second period. He then added assists on Brett Bowman's goal at 19:48 into the second and on Scott Florence's goal at 10:11 into the third.

Adam Leboeuf spearheaded the defensive effort for the Sharks, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 26 saves for the shutout. Leboeuf certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.31 entering the contest.

Wallaceburg's power play was ineffective against Wheatley's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Sharks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lakers to score on any of their six power plays.

Wheatley additionally got points from Bowman, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Raffoul, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Florence, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Matthew Barnes, Calyn Kir, and Michael Travis, who each chipped in one.

Wallaceburg could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Lakers put an average of 2.1 pucks into the net per game. Wallaceburg managed to hold Wheatley's power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. The Lakers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Sharks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For Wheatley, Nolan Gardiner was ejected from the game. Joel Sowinski recorded 25 saves for Wallaceburg.
