Lakeshore downs Mooretown in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Lakeshore Canadiens' Nick Tavolieri scored 2:00 into overtime to beat the Mooretown Flags, 5-4 (OT).

Lakeshore overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Canadiens fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Mooretown's Dan Lumley at 9:55 in the second period. Lakeshore tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Brenden Crundwell at 9:27 in the third period.

Tavolieri was all over the ice for the Canadiens, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Lakeshore kept the Flags' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 34 saves on 39 shots.

Lakeshore also had goals scored by Cameron MacDougall and Mejoe Gasparovic, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Lakeshore were Colin Sartor, Liam MacDougall, Luke Sanko, and Connor Goodchild, who each chipped in one and JJ Percy, Hunter Corp, and Aaron Moore, who contributed two each.

Mooretown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Lakeshore power plays.

The Flags were led by Sam Jasmin, who registered two goals and one assist. Jasmin scored the first of his two goals at 38 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown. Jasmin's next tally made the score 2-0 Mooretown with 14:30 left in the first period. Ryan Lyle provided the assist. Mooretown additionally got points from Matt Brandon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Joe DeSena, who had one.

The Canadiens' John Jeffries stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Lakeshore incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mooretown incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
