Huge game by Berg boosts Alvinston over Dresden, 6-3

Karsten Berg was all over the ice for the Alvinston Flyers, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Alvinston's 6-3 win over the Dresden Kings.

Berg's tallies came at 5:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alvinston and 19:54 into the third to make the score 6-3 Alvinston.

Dresden's power play was ineffective against the Flyers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Alvinston's offense rang up 45 shots on the Kings' net. The Flyers outdid their season average for goals scored. Alvinston has scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The Flyers cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring four goals on six chances.

Alvinston also got points from Hunter Bryce, who also had one goal and one assist. Alvinston also got a goal from Joe Archer as well. More assists for Alvinston came via Kirklin Dorman, who had one and Clint Rose and Eric Marsh, who each chipped in two.

Dresden kept Alvinston's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Avery made 45 saves on 48 shots.

The Kings were helped by Will Tetzlaff, who finished with one goal. Tetzlaff scored 1:18 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Alvinston. Derek Daly picked up the assist. Dresden additionally got points from Derrick VanEvery, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dillon Liberty also scored for Dresden. In addition, Dresden received assists from Graham Smyth and Taylor Sisson, who contributed one each.

The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Scott Tricker rejected 39 shots on goal for Dresden. The Kings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
