Alvinston falls to Essex in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Essex 73s' Matthew Hebert scored 2:19 into overtime to beat the Alvinston Flyers, 3-2 (OT).

Essex was sparked by Hebert, who had one goal.

The 73s' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Alvinston power plays. Essex did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The 73s average 5.3 goals per game. Essex kept Alvinston's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cam MacAlpine made 39 saves on 42 shots.

Essex additionally got points from Anthony Cristofaro, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Michael Vieira also scored for Essex. In addition, Essex received assists from Nick Mainella, Jordan Ryan, Scott Bromley, and Daniel McIntyre, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers stifled the 73s' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Alvinston was helped by Kole Keating, who tallied one goal. Keating scored 8:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alvinston. Kirklin Dorman picked up the assist. Alvinston also got a goal from Karsten Berg as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Cole Harris, Brady Swan, and Joe Archer, who contributed one each.

Essex's Colin Lauzon stopped 14 shots out of the 16 that he faced. The 73s incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Essex ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Phil Janikowski was ejected from the game. The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
