Basile nets hat trick, leads Amherstburg to 5-2 win over BlenheimBlenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Dec 14, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Kasey Basile netted a hat trick to lead the Amherstburg Admirals over the Blenheim Blades, 5-2. Basile's first goal came 4:48 into the second period. He then added goals at 13:45 into the second and at 8:42 into the third.Amherstburg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes. Others who scored for Amherstburg included James Brooks and Luke Gangnon, who scored one goal each. In addition, Amherstburg received assists from Matthew Barnes, who had two and Brett Banwell, Mark Sobocan, Cody Leeming, and Ryan Holzel, who contributed one each. Blenheim's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Amherstburg power plays. The Blades' offense rang up 49 shots on the Admirals' net. Blenheim's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Blades finished with 24 penalty minutes. Blenheim was helped by Tyler Boughner, who had one goal. Boughner scored 1:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Blenheim. Derek Muzzatti picked up the assist. Blenheim also got points from Muzzatti, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Corbin Hagerman, who had one and Bryan Boersma, who had two. Arren Romeril rejected 47 shots on goal for Amherstburg. Eric Stewardson recorded 17 saves for the Blades. Blenheim registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For the Blades, Kirk McKillop was ejected from the game.
