Alvinston downs Wallaceburg, 6-2

Karsten Berg registered two points to lead the Alvinston Flyers to a 6-2 victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Alvinston racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The Flyers surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Wallaceburg was unable to stop Alvinston from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Alvinston surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Flyers average 3.3 goals per game. Team could not crack the Lakers' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Alvinston also got points from Joe Archer, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Zach VanEyk, who also had one goal and one assist. Alvinston also got a goal from Chad Rainsberry as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Josh Moore, who had two and Dylan Ryan and Carter Campbell, who contributed one each.

Wallaceburg forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 53 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Lakers had been spending in the box. Wallaceburg's offense rang up 39 shots on Alvinston's net.

The Lakers were helped by Matt Clark, who tallied one goal and one assist. Clark scored 6:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Evan Weidenbach provided the assist. Wallaceburg additionally got points from Weidenbach, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Wallaceburg came via Mike Kindrachuk and Alex Ritchie, who each chipped in one.

Brett Avery recorded 37 saves for the Flyers. Alvinston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kole Keating was ejected from the game. Joel Sowinski rejected 40 shots on goal for Wallaceburg. The Lakers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Wallaceburg, Mike Brown was ejected from the game.
