Tricker stymies Wallaceburg, Dresden wins 2-1GLJHL Head Office Sun, Nov 23, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Scott Tricker stood on his head and made 40 saves to lead the Dresden Kings to a 2-1 victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers. Dresden's penalty kill excelled, as the Kings gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. Dresden was paced by David Vergeer, who racked up one goal. Vergeer scored 18:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dresden. Macks Holmes provided the assist. The Kings stifled Wallaceburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dresden could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. Dresden also got a goal from Justin Delgado as well. In addition, Dresden received assists from Wade Esselment, Kevin Ritzer, and Derrick VanEvery, who contributed one each. The Lakers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Kings were unable to stop Wallaceburg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lakers eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Wallaceburg was led by Alex Ritchie, who scored the team's only goal. Ritchie scored 14:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mike Kindrachuk picked up the assist. For Dresden, Justin Melo was ejected from the game. Joel Sowinski recorded 24 saves for the Lakers. Wallaceburg incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
