Wheatley completes comeback, beats Lakeshore, 3-2

The Wheatley Sharks climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Lakeshore Canadiens, 3-2.

Wheatley never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Sharks fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Lakeshore's Nick Tavolieri at 7:20 in the first period. Wheatley knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Nolan Gardiner at 19:48 in the first period. The Sharks scored the game winner at 1:17 in the second period on a goal by Gardiner.

Frankie Ciacelli had a great game for Wheatley, netting two goals.

The Sharks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Brett Bowman and Calyn Kir, who each chipped in one and Jimmy Ciacelli and Scott Florence, who contributed two each.

The Canadiens stifled Wheatley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lakeshore was held below its usual level of production. The Canadiens put an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. Lakeshore forced the Sharks goalie Conner MacKinnon to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

The Canadiens were helped by Connor Goodchild, who racked up one goal. Goodchild scored 3:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeshore. Cameron MacDougall picked up the assist. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Brenden Goran, who had one.

Wheatley's MacKinnon stopped 43 shots out of the 45 that he faced. The Sharks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. John Jeffries made 21 saves for Lakeshore on 24 shots. The Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
