Lakeshore uses fast start to beat Wallaceburg, 9-1

The Lakeshore Canadiens opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-1 win over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Sebastian Kanally had two goals and one assist to lead Lakeshore. Kanally scored the first of his two goals at 1:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lakeshore. Brenden Crundwell provided the assist. Kanally's next tally made the score 8-0 Lakeshore with 11:00 left in the third period. Dylan Kolic assisted on the tally.

Wallaceburg's power play was ineffective against the Canadiens' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Lakeshore forced the Lakers' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 31 shots and forcing 22 saves. Joel Sowinski made one stops and Scotty Gray made 21. The Canadiens stifled Wallaceburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lakeshore's goal total was higher than its season average. The Canadiens average 4.7 goals per game.

Lakeshore additionally got points from JJ Percy, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Liam MacDougall, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Crundwell, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lakeshore included Hunter Corp, Zack Bedard, Luke Sanko, and Mejoe Gasparovic, who scored one goal each. More assists for Lakeshore came via Brenden Goran, who had three and Nick Tavolieri, Steven Sartor, Nick Goran, and Logan Percy, who contributed one each.

The Lakers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lakeshore to score on any of its four power plays.

Colin Tetreault rejected 17 shots on goal for the Canadiens. Lakeshore incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Wallaceburg ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Lakers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mike Kindrachuk was ejected from the game.
