Amherstburg beats Mooretown 11-3 as Basile gets hat trick

A hat trick by Kasey Basile was the highlight in Admirals' 11-3 win against the Mooretown Flags.

Basile got on the scoresheet 17:37 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:03 into the third and at 9:37 into the third.

The Amherstburg Admirals kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Riley Collins made 27 saves on 38 shots. Amherstburg found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Admirals average 4.8 goals per game.

Amherstburg additionally got points from Cody Leeming, who also had two goals and two assists, Dan Matoski, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, James Brooks, who also finished with three goals and one assist, and Jordan Luciw, who also registered one goal and two assists. Broden Meloche also scored for Amherstburg. In addition, Amherstburg received assists from Mark Sobocan, who had two, Cole Martyniuk, Brett Banwell, Steven Spada, Ryan Holzel, Luke Gangnon, and Chad Copeland, who each chipped in one, and Ryan Alexander and Mark Gangnon, who contributed three each.

The Flags managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Mooretown finished below its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. The Flags forced Amherstburg goalie Daniel Tonietto to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Mooretown was led by Jeff Williams, who tallied one goal. Williams scored 3:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amherstburg. Mooretown also had goals scored by Ryan Lyle and Frankie White, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Mooretown were Taylor Declercq, Ethan Dupont, and Dan Lumley, who each chipped in one.

The Admirals' Tonietto stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Amherstburg incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Flags registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
