In hotly contested affair, Lakeshore beats Alvinston, 5-4Brooke Alvinston Inwood CC Sat, Nov 15, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game that featured four lead changes, the Lakeshore Canadiens had the final say in a 5-4 victory over the Alvinston Flyers. Hunter Corp was all over the ice for Lakeshore, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Corp scored the first of his two goals at 3:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeshore. Mitch Defede picked up the assist. Corp's next tally made the score 3-2 Lakeshore with 2:35 left in the second period. JJ Percy provided the assist. The Canadiens put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Alvinston to score on any of its four power plays. Lakeshore additionally got points from Percy, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Liam MacDougall, who also registered one goal and two assists. Michael Long also scored for Lakeshore. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Steven Sartor and Luke Sanko, who contributed one each. The Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Lakeshore power plays. Alvinston kept Lakeshore's goalie busy throughout the game, and John Jeffries made 37 saves on 41 shots. The Flyers were led by Kole Keating, who had two goals. Keating scored the first of his two goals at 6:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alvinston. Clint Rose picked up the assist. Keating's next tally made the score 3-3 with 13:34 left in the third period. Joe Archer provided the assist. Alvinston also had goals scored by Jeremy VanDeven and Zach VanEyk, who each put in one. More assists for Alvinston came via Jordan Hayes, who had one and Karsten Berg, who had two. The Canadiens incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brett Avery rejected 23 shots on goal for Alvinston. The Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
