Amherstburg falls to Dresden after surprising comebackLibro Centre Sun, Nov 09, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dresden Kings climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Amherstburg Admirals, 5-4. Dresden never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Kings was down 2-0 after a power play goal by Amherstburg's Jordan Luciw at 3:22 in the second period. Dresden knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Dillon Liberty at 10:25 in the third period. The Kings got the game winner at 16:46 in the third period on a goal by Liberty. Dresden forced the Admirals goalie Arren Romeril to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. The Kings' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Amherstburg's power play unit. Dresden was led by Derrick VanEvery, who registered three goals and one assist. Dresden also got points from Liberty, who also finished with two goals and one assist. In addition, Dresden received assists from Macks Holmes, who had two and Ross Krieger and John Montgomery, who each chipped in one. The Admirals kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Scott Tricker made 31 saves on 35 shots. Amherstburg struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 48 penalty minutes for 13 opposing power plays. Amherstburg additionally got points from James Brooks, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Mark Gangnon, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstburg were Brett Banwell and Ryan Alexander, who contributed one each. Dresden incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Romeril rejected 40 shots on goal for the Admirals.
