Mooretown vanquishes Wallaceburg in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Mooretown Flags defeated the Wallaceburg Lakers in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.

Mooretown forced Wallaceburg goalie Joel Sowinski to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

The Flags were helped by Caden Fleming, who registered one goal. Fleming scored 2:14 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mooretown. Alec Segers provided the assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Ryan Lyle as well. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Aiden Chapdalaine, Taylor Declercq, and Jeff Williams, who each chipped in one.

The Lakers' offense rang up 45 shots on Mooretown's net.

Wallaceburg was helped by Evan Weidenbach, who racked up one goal. Weidenbach scored 18:08 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Connor Johnston picked up the assist. Cory Lucier also scored for Wallaceburg. Other players who recorded assists for Wallaceburg were Lucais Meyskens and Jordan Eagan, who contributed one each.

Brandon Johnson recorded 43 saves for the Flags. Mooretown incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Sowinski rejected 35 shots on goal for the Lakers. Wallaceburg ended with no penalties and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
