Mooretown squeaks by Dresden, 5-3

The Mooretown Flags and the Dresden Kings were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Mooretown made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and David Addley's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Brett Thompson was all over the ice for the Flags, as he registered two goals in the win. Thompson found the back of the net 9:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown and again while 13:36 into the third to make the score 5-3 Mooretown.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:18 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Dresden was unable to stop Mooretown from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flags eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Mooretown also got points from Caden Fleming, who also had one goal and one assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Ryan Lyle as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mooretown were Kyle Smith, Brent Blais, Ethan Dupont, Matt Brandon, Alec Segers, and Dan Lumley, who each chipped in one.

The Kings were helped by Macks Holmes, who tallied one goal. Holmes scored 4:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. Kevin Ritzer picked up the assist. Dresden additionally got points from Dillon Liberty, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Will Tetzlaff also scored for Dresden. In addition, Dresden received assists from Tyson Kulich, Wade Esselment, Brad Maxim, and Derek Daly, who contributed one each.

Riley Collins made 24 saves for Mooretown on 27 shots. The Flags totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Mooretown, Lyle and Lumley were ejected from the contest. Dresden's Braden Palocz stopped 35 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Kings totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play. For Dresden, Ritzer was ejected from the game.
