Bedard's big game bests Mooretown in 8-4 Lakeshore win

The Lakeshore Canadiens' Zack Bedard had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 8-4 win over the Mooretown Flags.

Bedard scored at 3:04 into the third period to make the score 3-3 and again while 5:23 into the third to make the score 4-4.

Mooretown's power play was ineffective against Lakeshore's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:57 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Canadiens' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. Lakeshore had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Canadiens forced the Flags goalie Brandon Johnson to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. Lakeshore surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Canadiens average 4.4 goals per contest.

Lakeshore additionally got points from Hunter Corp, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Luke Sanko, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Mejoe Gasparovic, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lakeshore included Liam MacDougall, Brenden Crundwell, and Austin Jennings, who scored one goal each. More assists for Lakeshore came via Colin Sartor, who had one, Dylan Kolic, who had three, and Riley Meyerink and JJ Percy, who each chipped in two.

Mooretown was often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. The Flags surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game.

Mooretown was helped by Dan Lumley, who registered one goal and one assist. Lumley scored on the power play 14:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lakeshore. A roughing penalty on Bedard had put the Flags on the power play. Ryan Lyle assisted on the tally. Mooretown also got points from Ethan Dupont, who also had one goal and one assist and Alec Segers, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Caden Fleming also scored for Mooretown. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Kyle Smith and Brent Blais, who contributed one each.

Colin Tetreault recorded 13 saves for Lakeshore. The Canadiens registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. For Lakeshore, Cameron MacDougall was ejected from the game. Brandon Johnson made 38 saves for Mooretown on 46 shots. The Flags ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joe Stock was ejected from the game.
