Blenheim outlasts Alvinston, 3-2

The game between the Blenheim Blades and the Alvinston Flyers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Blenheim emerged with a 3-2 win.

The Blades gained the winning advantage on a goal by Derek Muzzatti 17:04 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Muzzatti had a great game for Blenheim, netting two goals.

The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Blenheim's offense rang up 32 shots on Alvinston's net.

Bryce Broad also scored for Blenheim. More assists for Blenheim came via Lucas Hickey, Dylan Smith, Kellen Kaniecki, Tyler Boughner, and Corbin Hagerman, who contributed one each.

The Flyers stifled the Blades' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Alvinston kept Blenheim's goalie busy throughout the game, and Eric Stewardson made 37 saves on 39 shots.

The Flyers were helped by Jordan Hayes, who had one goal. Hayes scored 16:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alvinston. Chad Rainsberry provided the assist. Alvinston also got a goal from Zach VanEyk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Kyle Adams, Hunter Bryce, and Josh Moore, who each chipped in one.

The Blades totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Blenheim ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Doug Ross was ejected from the game. Brett Avery rejected 29 shots on goal for Alvinston. The Flyers ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Alvinston, Kole Keating was ejected from the game.
