Wallaceburg rips Mooretown, 4-1

The Wallaceburg Lakers were firing on all cylinders against the Mooretown Flags, and when the final buzzer sounded Lakers emerged with a 4-1 win.

Wallaceburg's penalty kill excelled, as the Lakers gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Wallaceburg was led by Cory Lucier, who racked up one goal. Lucier scored 8:01 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wallaceburg. Jordan Eagan provided the assist.

The Lakers stifled Mooretown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wallaceburg's offense rang up 39 shots on the Flags' net.

Wallaceburg additionally got points from Lucais Meyskens, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Wallaceburg also had goals scored by Frankie White and Trevor Waller, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wallaceburg were Bronson Bea, Jeff Brown, Matt Clark, and Evan Weidenbach, who contributed one each.

Mooretown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Wallaceburg power plays.

Joel Sowinski made 22 saves for the Lakers on 23 shots. Wallaceburg incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Lakers, Lucier was ejected from the game. Brandon Johnson rejected 35 shots on goal for the Flags. Mooretown incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
