Wheatley downs Mooretown, 6-3

Brett Bowman had two points to lead the Wheatley Sharks to a 6-3 victory over the Mooretown Flags.

Wheatley kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Riley Collins made 36 saves on 42 shots. The Sharks bested their season scoring average. Wheatley averages 3.6 goals per game. The defensemen of the Sharks were also effective in the Flags' zone, and came away with three goals.

Wheatley also got points from Mike Reid, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Calyn Kir, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Wheatley included Riley Enns, Antonio Ciampa, and Michael Travis, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Lucas Raffoul, who had two, Scott Florence, who had three, and Brian Johnson and Nolan Gardiner, who each chipped in one.

Mooretown's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Flags finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Mooretown was led by Dan Lumley, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Lumley scored 2:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. Kyle Smith assisted on the tally. Mooretown also had goals scored by Ethan Dupont and Brett Thompson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Taylor Declercq, Caden Fleming, and Sam Jasmin, who contributed one each.

Wheatley's Conner MacKinnon stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Sharks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Flags registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For Mooretown, Jeff Williams and David Addley were ejected from the contest.
