Amherstburg holds on for 4-3 win against Dresden

The Dresden Kings tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Amherstburg Admirals held on for a 4-3 victory.

Amherstburg made the score 3-1 on a goal by Ryan Holzel at 2:42 in the third period, and Dresden got as close as 3-2 when Derek Daly scored 11:16 into the third period.

With three goals and two assists between them, James Brooks and Brett Beattie teamed up to power the Admirals' offense. Brooks registered two goals and one assist and Beattie also notched one goal and one assist.

Amherstburg stifled the Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Admirals' offense rang up 36 shots on Dresden's net.

Amherstburg also got points from Beattie, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstburg were Chad Copeland, who had two and Mark Sobocan, Cody Leeming, Marshal Laing, and Kasey Basile, who contributed one each.

The Kings kept Amherstburg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Arren Romeril made 43 saves on 46 shots.

Dresden also got a goal from Kevin Ritzer as well. More assists for Dresden came via Justin Delgado, Dillon Liberty, Will Tetzlaff, Ross Krieger, and Macks Holmes, who each chipped in one.

The Admirals totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Amherstburg, Ryan Alexander and Dean Patterson were ejected from the contest. Dresden's Scott Tricker stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Kings totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. Dresden ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Devin Ouimet was ejected from the game.
