Wheatley blows out Blenheim, 4-1Wheatley Area Arena Sat, Oct 18, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wheatley Sharks had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Blenheim Blades. Blenheim was unable to stop Wheatley from sending pucks towards the net, and the Sharks eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Wheatley was helped by Scott Florence, who had two goals and one assist. Florence scored the first of his two goals at 17:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Wheatley. Austin Thompson assisted on the tally. Florence's next tally made the score 4-1 Wheatley with 18:59 left in the third period. Brett Bowman picked up the assist. Wheatley also got points from Thompson, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Mike Reid, Chris Warkentin, and Antonio Ciampa, who contributed one each. The Blades could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Blenheim puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Blades were led by Zack Horvath, who scored the team's only goal. Horvath scored on the power play 8:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Blenheim had taken the advantage when the Sharks' Thompson got sent off for boarding. Corbin Hagerman provided the assist. Conner MacKinnon recorded 23 saves for Wheatley. The Sharks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Klinton Kenney made 27 saves for the Blades on 31 shots. Blenheim totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Blades, Derek Muzzatti was ejected from the game.
