Dresden outlasts Alvinston, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Dresden Kings escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Alvinston Flyers.

Dresden gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kyle Dawson 14:25 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Kings were led by Dawson, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Dresden kept Alvinston's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Avery made 38 saves on 42 shots.

Dresden additionally got points from Derek Daly, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dresden also had goals scored by Justin Delgado and Dillon Liberty, who each put in one. More assists for Dresden came via Ross Krieger, who had two and Taylor Sisson, John Montgomery, and Macks Holmes, who each chipped in one.

The Kings were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Alvinston eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Flyers were helped by Zach VanEyk, who grabbed one goal. VanEyk scored on the power play 43 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Alvinston. Alvinston had gotten the advantage when Dresden's Wade Esselment was sent off for checking from behind. Jordan Hayes picked up the assist. Alvinston also got a goal from Karsten Berg as well. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Kole Keating and Kirklin Dorman, who contributed one each.

Scott Tricker recorded 30 saves for the Kings. Dresden incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Kings, Esselment was ejected from the game. The Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
