Matt Clark lifted the Wallaceburg Lakers to a 6-4 victory with a hat trick against the Dresden Kings. Clark notched his first tally 11:03 into the second period. He then added goals at 18:00 into the second and at 19:11 into the third.Dresden's power play was ineffective against Wallaceburg's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Lakers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Kings to score on any of their seven power plays. Wallaceburg bested its season scoring average. The Lakers average 2.3 goals per game. Wallaceburg could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Wallaceburg additionally got points from Mike Kindrachuk, who also registered one goal and one assist and Trevor Waller, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wallaceburg also got a goal from Jackson Gray as well. More assists for Wallaceburg came via Lucais Meyskens, Bronson Bea, Jeff Brown, Cory Lucier, Connor Johnston, and Brendan Ritchie, who contributed one each. Dresden was helped by Derek Daly, who tallied one goal. Daly scored 12:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. Wade Esselment picked up the assist. Dresden also got points from Mike Myers, who also racked up one goal and one assist and John Montgomery, who also had one goal and one assist. Derrick VanEvery also scored for Dresden. In addition, Dresden received assists from Jim McKinlay, who had two and David Vergeer, Ross Krieger, and Steven Funk, who each chipped in one. The Lakers' Scotty Gray stopped 19 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Wallaceburg registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Steven Taylor rejected 18 shots on goal for the Kings. Dresden incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Graham Smyth was ejected from the game.
