Mooretown vanquishes Lakeshore in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Mooretown Flags defeated the Lakeshore Canadiens in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Lakeshore got a shootout goal from Colin Sartor. In addition to the clincher, Mooretown got a shootout goal from Ryan Lyle.

The Flags came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Mooretown fell behind 3-1 after a short handed goal by the Canadiens' Sebastian Kanally at 18:16 in the second period. The Flags knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Lyle at 15:54 in the third period.

Mooretown was sparked by Joe Stock, who had one goal. Stock scored 4:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lakeshore. Sam Jasmin provided the assist.

The Flags excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Mooretown forced Lakeshore goalie Colin Tetreault to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Mooretown also got a goal from Justin Vanbuskirk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mooretown were Matt Brandon, who had two.

The Canadiens' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Mooretown power plays. Lakeshore kept the Flags' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 37 saves on 40 shots.

Lakeshore additionally got points from Brenden Crundwell, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Dylan Kolic, who had one and Brad Carroll, who had two.

Mooretown ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Flags ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ethan Dupont was ejected from the game. The Canadiens' Tetreault stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Lakeshore incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
